About the Photographer

Chris Saltos is an up and coming freelance photographer from Sydney. Chris found his great passion for photography just a few short years ago and has since developed his skills in a variety of genres. His greatest love is in Australian landscapes, flora and fauna yet he has recently expanded his portfolio through portraiture. He has been photographing social events such as weddings and baptisms as well as more formal portrait work. Chris looks to continue honing his skills with hopes of following a career path to a full-time corporate photographer.

Born in country NSW, Chris moved with this family to Sydney in 1977. Chris attended Liverpool Patrician Brothers High School and Benedict Senior College, Auburn and went on to graduate from Macquarie University, Sydney with a Bachelor of Arts and Diploma of Education in 1986. (B.A. Dip. Ed)

In his current professional role, Chris is teaching in the Economics Department at St Aloysius College. Previously he was the Head of the Department of Economics at the same school. Amongst Chris’ many and varied career accomplishments that span the last 20 plus years are as a teacher of Business and Economics, a member of the HSC Business Studies Exam Committee, HSC Judge for Business Studies Marking, an HSC assessor for the Business Studies HSC exam, HSC lecturer to country students, advice line representative as well as coaching several sports at St. Aloysius.

Chris is also now official photographer for the College’s many events which includes photographs for the drama department, sport and social events. These photos are put to use in the College’s newsletters, magazines and annual. He also represented the College for World Youth Day activities earlier this year.

Chris took long-service leave in September and October 2008 during which time he traveled throughout North America, Canada and Greece on a photographic journey. His time in Greece was a return to his family’s heritage after a nearly 35-year absence. This much-anticipated trip was the platform to capture the magic of this voyage “back home” through a photographic essay of the vast array of sites and experiences from his family’s homeland. These photographs will serve to tell a story which will become the theme of several exhibits in 2009.
